John Kay (Scottish,1742-1826), Four 18th C. political cartoon colored etchings, each framed behind glass, including: "His Majestys Historiographer", 1790, depicting a profile view of a gentleman in 18th C. attire walking, ss: 7" h. x 4" w.; "Travells eldest son in conversation with a Cherokee chief", 1791, depicting two gentlemen conversing, one with a sword, the other with a hand in his pocket, with dialogue in lower margins, ss: 9" h. x 6" w.; "Petticoat Government or the Gray mare is the better horse", 1795, depicting a soldier wiping and leading a Scottish gentleman with a kilt, 8" h. x 6" w.; "The Perservering Peitioner for Justice & Patient witness against Iniquity; or , The Job of the present Times", c. 1790, depicting Revd. James Lawson of Belvedere holding the pamphlet for which the piece is titled, surrounded by quotations from the piece, 9" h. x 6" w.; all with wear consistent with age.
