A Pre-Columbian Mezcala style stone figure of a crouching monkey figure, carved from a green hardstone 1.5"h x 3"w. Provenance: David Cole was an influential dealer of California avant garde art during the 1950s and 1960s with a gallery in San Francisco and Los Angeles. He worked closely with Lee Mullican and Gordon Onslow-Ford, Dynaton artists, who were both drawn to the imagery and mythology of the Pre-Columbian peoples of Central and South America
