A rare oil on canvas by this artist, the work is signed lower left front and titled titled verso on the stretcher. Walter Schaffner worked as a set designer and his easel output appears to have been mostly in pastels, no oils of this size and sophistication have been offered at auction. This composition of a farm scene in Connecticut is displayed in an outstanding custom made frame with carved corners.
