Provenance: Cotton 1840's / 1850's whig rose quilt, all hand appliqued and hand quilted, with a diamond border, and dense hand quilting including trapunto / stuffed work. The quilting is exceptional, with close straight line/stipple and in detailed grid, feathered, and pineapple designs done with the trapunto -- or stuff quilting -- technique. The back is white, the hand stitched binding is a green print, and the batting is thin.
