Antique c1880 Basket Quilt Measuring 91x 91". It is comprised of 32 basket blocks, 10.5 x 10.5", set on point, 4 by 4, with a triple 3.5" wide green white and green print sash and shirting setting triangles, and a 4.5" triple border of green white and green print. It is hand and machine pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is a medium loft cotton batting and a pieced print reverse. There is an applied green print fabric binding applied to the edge by hand. It is in fair condition with overall toning, spots, and some wear and holes to the back. The workmanship is also somewhat primitive and the quilt is not perfectly squared at the bottom corners. This quilt is from the estate of Sharon Stark, noted Pennsylvania textile dealer and award winning author.
