Vintage c1940 Log Cabin Concentric Square Quilt measuring 60x75". It is comprised of 20 blocks, about 10x10", set kind of straight, 4 by 5. There is about a 4" wide floral print sashing, a 1" red inner border and a 1" white outer border. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. Medium loft cotton batting with a white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand. It is in fair condition with several spots, fading, and bleeding. The workmanship is very primitive and gives it a folky aesthetic. A unique layout for a log cabin block with the color placement creating the concentric square design. This quilt is from the estate of Sharon Stark, noted Pennsylvania textile dealer and award winning author.
