Author:
Title: Message of the President of the United States in relation to the boundary between the United States and Texas
Place Published: Washington, D.C.

Date Published: 1842
Description: House of Representatives, Doc. N. 51, January 20, 1842. 78 pp. Removed from larger volume with remnants of stitching at spine.
Once Texas had won its independence from Mexico and became an independent Republic, it remained to settle questions about its eastern boundary with the United States. By treaty between the two, a Joint Boundary Line Commission initiated a boundary survey that was three years in the making (one of the surveyors being George Meade, future commander of the Union Army in the Civil War). This details the proceedings and final decision of the commissioners, that was sent to the House while maps graphically illustrating the outcome were in preparation. Two months later, a revised version of the House Report was submitted to the Senate, which printed its version, with the addition to a supplement of six maps.
