Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, 21st to 31st Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. A wonderful and wearable necklace strung with hundreds of petite faience beads, each covered in colorful polychrome glaze. The center carnelian pendant exhibits polished facets that glean in the light, and the flanking carnelian beads show stages of polishing off the original white surface deposits. Size (necklace): 26" L (66 cm); (center carnelian): 0.73" L x 0.31" W x 0.31" H (1.9 cm x 0.8 cm x 0.8 cm)

Condition
Wearable as shown and strung in modern times. Faience beads and carnelian pendants are ancient; stringing and metal findings are modern. Some faience beads with small chips and light fading to glaze pigment, otherwise intact and excellent. Wonderful preservation to variety of glaze colors!
