Description
A Vintage Early Charles Mike Yazzie Old Pawn designed Concho Belt with a large 4" x 2.75" buckle, and repeating 3.25" x 2.75" oval and 2.75" x 1.5" butterfly conchos, each with a high quality Blue Gem Turquoise Stone. The belt and Silver Conchos show age. The leather spans 50" and has loops to 45" Charlie Yazzie. well-know Navajo artist began his career in jewelry in 1950's and worked for Atkinson Trading in Gallup. His specialty was beautiful concho belts and he used the best turquoise specimens available and this doesn't disappoint. The Blue Gem Turquoise Mine is very deep, and the deposit of turquoise lies deep in the earth, with some mine shafts descending 800 feet below the surface. Blue Gem mine Turquoise is some of the highest quality turquoise found in Nevada. Due to its depth in the ground, Blue Gem turquoise is an extremely hard, gem-grade turquoise stone (hence the name), that jewelers and Silversmiths love working with due to the hardness and ability to take a shine. A true vintage showpiece.
