1863 Charles the Bold Duke of Burgundy Battle of Nancy France Burgundian WARS 2v
Charles the Bold was a 15th-century German noble, best known for serving as Duke of Burgundy at the end of his life. Charles was set on unifying and growing Burgundy, so much so that he engaged in numerous battles conquering many regions in France. Ultimately, Charles died in the Battle of Nancy, ending the attempts to grow Burgundy and bringing the Burgundian Wars to an end. Nineteenth century English author John Foster Kirk wrote what a proved to be one of the best and most thorough biographies of Charles the Bold.
This 1863 first edition of “History of Charles the Bold” by Kirk is beautifully bound in stunning leather and marbled boards. A truly remarkable display to an important work describing the shaping of European history.
