RIAA Platinum Award for Foo Fighters debut album, which was released on June 20, 1995. The release was certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million copies sold on Jan. 26, 1996. Remember Taylor Hawkins (1972-2022) with this award.

The album, with the songs written and virtually all parts and vocals performed in the studio by founder Dave Grohl, went to #23 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums and #3 on the UK Albums charts. It contained various singles which did well including "This Is A Call", "I'll Stick Around" and "Big Me", all of which charted. It also picked up a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album in 1996 but ironically it lost to MTV Unplugged in New York from Grohl's former group Nirvana.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Platinum award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured in 1996 making it approximately 27 years old. This award is presented to Tim Wallen, who worked in record promotion for Capitol Records and other labels throughout his career.

The award is in VG condition with only minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. It has its original Fitzgerald Hartley manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
