Most early 20th century. Two 10K gold wire frame with oval lenses and curved temples. Another with silver finish having rounded rectangular frames with no lenses and wire temples. Another with gold finish, oval lenses and cable temples. Another coin silver with octagonal frames with no lenses and straight temples. The last of steel with oval frames and no lenses.

From the collection of Dr. J. William Rosenthal, M.D.

Dr. Rosenthal was a well-known ophthalmologist, an expert on the history of spectacles and other visual aids, a renowned collector, an author, and a generous benefactor of many institutions. His father, Jonas W. Rosenthal, MD, is the namesake of the museum of ophthalmology at Tulane University. Optical devices from his collection can be found in over sixteen museums including the Museum of Vision of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
