A Federal mahogany pillar and scroll shelf clock, Eli & Samuel Terry, Plymouth, CT, circa 1824-1827
Provenance
With broken pediment having giltwood finial, painted wooden face, inscribed, “Mayclese/ New York,” case door with lower reverse-glass painted panel depicting houses in a landscape, the interior retaining original label, molded base on shaped apron with bracket feet.
H: 31 in. W: 17 ½ in. D: 4 ½ in. (including finial)

Collection of a Virginia gentleman.
Condition
lot 52: with some repaired breaks and veneer patches, to cornice and molding, door surround, and legs / apron; the enamel painted face with considerable horizontal flaking / loss, cracquelure, and some darkened / yellow spots and staining, with two plugged screw holes that have fill, appears to be more recently re-screwed to mechanism; eglomise panel with some scattered loss to paint; with three giltwood finials that are not period, the two side finials previously glued in place and presently detached / broken; also accompanied by extra acorn-form giltwood finial, which doesn't appear to fit properly; with later tin panel to back (for accessing pendulum and mechanism); accompanied by a case key and winding key, but no weight present; as with all mechanical objects, Freeman's does not guarantee functionality for clocks
