A George IV sterling silver coffee pot, London 1828 by Jonathon Hayne Of baluster form upon a spreading circular foot, the curved spout opposite a C scroll handle fitted with insulators pinned to scroll sockets, decorated with embossed and chased fruiting vine and a shell thumbpiece, leading to a cast rim of fruiting vine and rocaille, with a centrally domed hinged lid surmounted by a detachable cast flower finial with an insulator, the lid with chased decoration of roses, fruiting vine and C scrolls. The body with embossed decoration of a scene of three Bacchanalian putto to one side, eating from a basket of grapes, flanked by two rampant goats, all with fruiting vine and foliate scrolls against a textured ground, the obverse with an asymmetrical cartouche applied with mid-19th century French stamped initials LHL, also flanked by goats. The spout with a chased husk shell and foliage. The foot rim with a chased band of fruiting vine and flowers. Fully marked underneath and part-marked to lid, stamped underneath 2784, additionally struck with French import mark (after 1st June 1864).
