Description
This particular match holder was made by the Service Deluxe Company out of Chicago, patented September 12th 1960 and November 16th 1960. It is in the form of a lighthouse with two match holders on either side, mounted on top of a cast iron ashtray. The top of the lighthouse contains a bulb that would have been lit by a battery. There is a match striker mounted on both sides of the lighthouse, and there is a slit in the top of the lighthouse that lends itself to have once had some type of advertising. Embossed in the base of the ashtray are the initials "S.O.S." A very unique piece of early cigar lighting and match dispensing memorabilia from the Chicago Company. CONDITION: There are areas of paint loss to the white paint for the lid and around the base of the ashtray. There is original patina to the lighthouse top, showing a great aged look. The lighthouse is not operative from the lit perspective, and possibly could be restored to light again. Condition: (Good) Dimensions: 12"
