Description
This automaton is pictured on page 37 of "Collecting Musical Boxes and How to Repair Them." Produced by Adolf Mueller of Sundberg, Germany, in 1860. The automaton deploys several different movements: eyes, mouth, head, hands, arms and fingers. CONDITION: Fully operational and with the original banjo. The young lad is in original clothing, showing some tattered appearance that could be greatly improved with a good cleaning and with the original top cap. A simply great early piece of German mechanical automation. PROVENANCE: From the lifelong collection of Bill Howard. Condition: (Very Good) Dimensions: 29" x 12"
