Description
1900, GERMANY: Ludwig Hupfeld A. G. was the largest manufacturer of automatic musical instruments the world has ever known. In an era when the Regina Music box Co. and the Rudolph Wurlitzer Co. employed hundreds, Hupfeld employed thousands. This example of Hupfeld's early work is a barrel orchestrion labeled "Atlantic", with piano, drums, percussion and a bank of violin pipes. Beautiful black stained oak cabinet with painted details, art glass doors, with center art glass window. With Hupfeld brass tag and labeled "Atlantic". CONSIDERATIONS: The cabinet is stunning, showing light wear and some light rubs to the finish. The art glass is original, as is all the instrumentation. The instrument plays well, however it is run by weights that will need to be fabricated or replaced. Condition: (Good). Dimensions: 52" x 24" x 98".
