FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT (1882-1945). 32nd President of the United States, serving from 1933 until his death in 1945; regarded as one of the greatest presidents in U.S. history; served as the Governor of New York from 1929 to 1933; elected President in 1932, the only president to serve four terms in office, winning re-election in 1936, 1940, and 1944; passed away in April 1945, just weeks before the end of World War II.
June 16, 1917-Dated WW1 Era, Typed Letter Signed, "F D Roosevelt" as Assistant Secretary of the Navy on "Navy Department - Washington" official letterhead, measuring 10.5" x 8", Choice Very Fine. Here, FDR writes to Congressman James P. Maher, who interceded on behalf of a discharged Navy Yard worker, informing him that the worker had been reinstated.
