Antique telescope single draw c1765 reverse taper decagonal barrel with deep cherry lacquer Sinister signature, "GREGORY, LONDON", London in italic. Hand engraved.Crown forward achromatic doublet objective.OG & eyecup cover slide.OG flange pinned & secure but a tad loose.Drawsleeve flange pinned and secure.5-lens Dollond style eyepiece, which helps date the achromatic because Dollond and theircompetitors reverted to the 4-lens eyepiece in 1766.Optically & mechanically sound. Image crisp and clear, snaps into sharp focus.Clear aperture 1-inchMagnification x15 FoV 2?Extended length 32-inches Collapsed length 26-inches All lenses free of sleeks or chips or scratches.Drawtube is unretained and free of dents.Original patina. This telescope has not been restored.Lacquer on the barrel is worn.Brass work has original patina.Henry (1) Gregory flourished from 1744-1782 & had his business at East India House, Leadenhall St. London.Size: 26 x 2 x 2 in.
