Tarbox / Yale College / Sept. 1842 / Presented me by Mr. Charles Goodwin of East Hartford", (Increase N. Tarbox (1815-1888) Doctor of Divinity degree at Yale College, He authored numerous works on the topics of history, religion, and philosophy Howes M391 and Sabin 46393. These books are not only a rare piece of Americana, the original London edition from 1698 being worth many thousands, but they also contain some of mother's ancestors such as the Rev. Ephraim Huet (Hewitt) and Rev. Purden of New Haven, Governor William Bradford of Plymouth etc. Occasional toning and foxing. Texts are age browned, water stains at top of first 70 pp. of volume two decreasing in size into text.
