A PALE CELADON AND RUSSET JADE OPENWORK 'GOOSE' PLAQUE, YUAN TO MING DYNASTY
China, 1279-1644. Of rounded rectangular form, finely carved with a flying goose and long-tailed bird, the translucent stone of a pale hue with deep russet inclusions cleverly incorporated by the lapidary to highlight the birds' heads.
Provenance: English trade. Acquired from an estate in Hounslow, by repute.
Condition: Excellent condition with only minor wear and few manufacturing irregularities. The jade with natural fissures, some of which may have developed into small hairline cracks.
