Description
A YELLOW-GLAZED INCISED 'DRAGON' BOWL, QIANLONG MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

China, 1736-1795. Delicately pooted with deep rounded sides sweeping to an everted rim, the exterior finely incised with two sinuous dragons pursuing the flaming pearl amid flames and cloud scrolls above a border of crashing waves, covered overall in a rich egg-yolk yellow glaze, save for the recessed base covered in a transparent glaze over the underglaze-blue six-character seal mark da Qing Qianlong nianzhi and of the period.

Provenance
: Private UK Collection, assembled prior to 2000. Christie's Paris, 12 July 2022, lot 728, sold for EUR 44,100 or approx. EUR 49,500 adjusted for inflation at the time of writing.
Condition: Superb condition with minor wear and minimal firing irregularities.

Expert's note: During the Qing dynasty, bowls covered on both the exterior and interior in yellow enamel were reserved exclusively for use at rituals in the Palace and for the use of the Emperor, Empress, and Empress Dowager.
