Description
China, c. 1770-1870. Of cylindrical form, finely painted in gilt, cobalt-blue, and bright enamels, the tall sides of the cover with square panels enclosing alternating mountain landscapes and dense lotus scroll centered by a gilt blossom, the reticulated top similarly decorated, all supported on the box with narrower straight sides rising from a stepped foot encircled by a band of gilt, the interiors in turquoise and white. The recessed base with an iron-red four-character minyao seal mark Qianlong nianzhi.
Provenance: From a Swiss private collection.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and minor firing flaws including dark spots.
