Marino Marini, Italian, 1901 to 1980, a color lithograph on paper, Cavallo, Horse, 1974. signed in pencil, lower right. Framed. Marino Marini was an Italian artist, known for Abstract equestrian sculpture, painting, and drawing. Born in Pistoia, Marini is particularly famous for his series of stylised equestrian statues, which feature a man with outstretched arms on a horse. Since 1929, he worked at the Higher Institute of Arts in Monza, often visited Paris, where he collaborated with Massimo Campigli, Giorgio de Chirico, Alberto Magnelli, Filippo de Pisis. In 1936 he moved to Switzerland, visited Zurich and Basel, met Alberto Giacometti, Germaine Richier, Fritz Votruba. In 1936 he received the prize of the Rome Quadrennial. Since 1948 he was engaged in abstract painting. Vintage and Modern European Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
