Description
An early 20th-century American silver-plated trophy cup. Polished goblet with hand-engraved inscription on the front: Montclair Athletic Club, Womens Doubles Championship, 1927, Won by Helen Wills. Hallmarks Derby Silver Plate Co., International Silver Co., 1311, EPNM, Handbeaten are on the bottom. The Montclair Athletic Club was a sports venue started in 1899 at 201 Valley Road in Montclair, New Jersey. Helen Wills, 1905 to 1998, was an American tennis player, the first American woman athlete to become a global celebrity. Historical Relics, Sports Collectibles, Silverware And Silverplate, Decor.
