BIOGRAPHY:
In contact with the expressionist movement of the time, Soren Sorensen sought in his works from around 1918 to give a lively and linear composition, such as in Susanne in Badete, where the influence of Rubens is felt. Later, it became essentially the figurative folk life painting that he occupied himself with, but still with an emphasis on the rounded composition. To a greater degree than in the Danish Folklife pictures, the direct study of nature is evident in his diverse Italian pictures. On Bornholm, he has painted a series of fishing pictures, which with their well-considered line effects can bring to mind the Swedish painter Carl Willhelmson.
