**Originally Listed At $250**

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A hand-built pottery canteen exhibiting stone-burnished surfaces and a dense black-and-white panel decorating each shoulder. Resting atop one shoulder is an abstract camelid creature, and a pierced suspension loop is situation on the central ridge surrounding the peripheries. Size: 4.25" L x 8" W x 9.25" H (10.8 cm x 20.3 cm x 23.5 cm)

Provenance: private Carroll collection, Georgia, USA, by descent; ex-private Jim Carroll collection, Maryland, USA, acquired 1960s

Loss to rim as shown. Minor nicks and abrasions, with light earthen deposits, and fading to pigment in scattered areas, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation to geometric motif on shoulder.
