Native American, Southwestern United States, Hopi Pueblo, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A large, coiled basketry plaque with a stepped kachina face motif, made from yucca, grasses, and/or other natural plant fibers. Traditionally such plaques were made as ceremonial gifts such as for a first kachina dance or wedding, and today are used as artistic and decorative pieces that celebrate Hopi culture. Size: 11" Diameter (27.9 cm)
