Description
"Venus Callipigia" or "The Callipygian Venus" in patinated bronze, ca. 1920. Following the Roman copy of the original Hellenistic model found in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. "Calipygia" means "beautiful buttocks" and by extension the term is used to refer to works of art in which the model's buttocks capture all the viewer's interest. Measures approx. 11" high x 4" in diameter (base) and carries a foundry mark.
