Description
Austrian silver and Viennese enamel tray, ca. 1880. The front is hand painted with a Greek mythological scene of goddess Cybele in her cart being pulled by a pair of lions. The back shows a romantic lanscape with castle and lake. Partially gilt gallery with floral patterns and scrolls. Ornate end handles with scroll finials. Marks include stamp for Ludwig Politzer (1841-1907), Viennese silversmith and court jeweler who exhibited at the world's fairs in Paris in 1878 and 1900. Measures approx. 8 7/8" long x 5 1/8" wide and weighs ca. 242 grams. Good antique condition with minor wear and old repairs.
