Description
An antique French Doorbell or Desk Call Button with a seated Frog figurine by Susse Freres. Circa the late 19th century. The frog sits on a round water lily placed on a wooden base. In front of the figurine, there is a wooden call button. Marked Susse Freres on the back side. The Susse Freres firm was established in 1839 by brothers Michel Victor Susse and Amedee Susse, who set up a foundry in Paris. The company was famous for producing exceptionally cast bronzes. In addition to works of sculpture, Susse Frères made delicate parts for furniture and clocks, collaborating with several French sculptors to produce refined designs.
