Nikita Khrushchev TLS Re: Agriculture for Ukraine, PSA Authenticated
TLS
A typed letter signed by Nikita Khrushchev updating Deputy Premier Lazar M. Kaganovich on the production plans of two agricultural plants in Ukraine. 1p, measuring 7.5" x 9.75", Ukraine, ca. 1948. Signed in green in Russian Cyrillic letters by Khrushchev as First Secretary of the Communist Party in Ukraine. Featuring flattened folds and light creases, with isolated tearing at edges not affecting text. Boldly signed, very fine overall. PSA encapsulated and verified authentic, measuring 9.5" x 13" overall.
Translated in part:
"The teams of the Kharkov Tractor Plant and Agricultural Machinery Plants, having joined the Socialist competition for the early implementation of annual plans, pledged to produce in 1948 for the agriculture of Ukraine? 1000 tractors, 1200 combines, 600 threshers, 3800 seeders, 1500 rollers and other agricultural machines."
Nikita Khrushchev (1894-1971) was the first secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and chairman of the Council of Ministers. His rise to power coincided with one of the darkest periods in Soviet history, when Stalin began a series of bloody purges to consolidate his power. Eventually, Khrushchev would control the Communist party, coming to power in 1953.
Lazar Moiseyevich Kaganovich (1893-1991) was a Soviet politician and administrator, and one of the main associates of Joseph Stalin. Indeed, he was one of several associates who helped Stalin to seize power.
