Theodore Roosevelt TLS Re: "the nomination for Vice-President"
TLS

A typed letter from former President Theodore Roosevelt signed as "T. Roosevelt" and addressed to New York Times editor E. E. Johnson. 1p on "The Outlook" letterhead, measuring 6.5" x 7.75", New York, dated December 1, 1910. Within, Roosevelt corrects the record on a discussion during the Republican National Convention regarding the nomination for Vice President. Featuring areas of his handwritten corrections in the letter's body paragraph. Very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds, irregular toning, and fading to typewritten text. Boldly signed.

In full:

"Don't quote me on the matter, but the statement is absolutely without foundation as regards myself and Curtis. I don't remember about Biglin, but I do remember Curtis [and I] talking over ^with me^ the nomination for Vice-President, and Curtis trying to get me to make a fight against Logan. I stayed throughout the Convention, and so did Curtis."
