Eileen Gray 'Aixia' brushed metal and leather side chair mid-20th century, elegant tubular outline with channel-tufted leather seat. 33 x 15 1/2 x 20. Scattered scuffs and wear to frame, cracks and tears to leather seat. A similar example sold Sotheby's New York lot 31, June 7, 2023. This later issue captures the spirit of her architectural masterpiece of design. Eileen Gray (Irish 1878-1976) architect and designer created this chair as part of her design of Villa E-1027 in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France on the Cote d'Azur in the 1920s.
