Provenance: Rare cotton red, black, gray and white "Chief Joseph's" quilt, all hand pieced and hand quilted, with an unusual art deco design that mimics a Navajo weaving. There is quilting around the piecework and in straight line and pinwheel designs in the background, all at 8-9 stitches to the inch. The back is a chambray charcoal gray (with two red borders), the hand stitched binding is red, and the batting is thin.
