Description: Richard Wright of Liverpool painted this enormous 18th-century oil painting, which depicts a Royal Navy ship going through a fishery from the coast. A comprehensive picture of different vessels in varying weather situations, with excellent quality and condition. Unsigned, but recognized by a British Museum-owned engraving that has been verified as belonging to Wright. enclosed in a vintage gilded frame. Leading example of a maritime painter who learned everything on his own and is recognized as one of the genre's most important artists of the era. Size: about 31" by 26" when framed.
