Condition
The stamnos is repaired from numerous fragments, with infill and over-painting along the break-lines. There are extensive areas of restoration with over-painting to the black glaze, and also the figures including most of the faces. There is also restoration with over-painting to parts of the palmettes. One of the handles is for the most part restored.
The interior of the stamnos has been lined with linen with patches of reinforcing plaster and two large patches of tan coloured varnish. The foot probably restored.
The stamnos is accompanied by negatives (x-rays) and photographs taken by the National Museum of Denmark which show the extent of the repairs and restoration.
