Description
GONE WITH THE WIND
One Sheet (27" x 41" ); Style DP, First Wide Release
Very Fine- on Linen; Artwork by Armando Seguso
MGM, 1940
MGM distributed four different styles of one sheets for this film. In its Roadshow release, the posters said nothing about "Exactly as it was originally presented." With the first wide release the copy blurbs stating that "nothing is cut" were added.
The white field was airbrushed during restoration, and the title has had minor touch-ups. Repairs were also done to slight chipping around the edge and fold lines.
This epic Civil War romance overcame serious production problems to win 10 Oscars (including Best Picture, Best Director for Victor Fleming, and Best Supporting Actress for Hattie McDaniel, the first African American to win an Academy Award) and become the highest-grossing film in history (adjusted for inflation).
This lot will be auctioned on Thursday, April 18th. The auction will begin at 9:30am PST and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Note other lots in the auction may close on April 19th.
