A Roman legionary ring with a round band expanding to stepped shoulders. The rounded bezel is engraved with stylised thunderbolt decorations. In the Roman world, the thunderbolt held profound symbolic meaning and was closely associated with Jupiter, the king of gods and the god of the sky and thunder.
