Description
Ca. 3rd - 10th century AD.
An Iron spear head with a hand forged blade, the type manufactured by Roman armies as they marched across Europe and North Africa. This spear head has a blade in the shape of a laurel leaf and a small hook at the base of the tip. This would have been used to catch the enemy's weapon. Size: 365mm x 55mm; Weight: 720g
Provenance: From the collection of a European gentleman based in the UK, formed in the 2000s; acquired on the German art market.
