This Coin was discovered by the U.S. Treasury in 1964, as part of a huge hoard of coins which escaped from being melted in the early 1900's. It is marked in its case as "Uncirculated Silver Dollar", but the graders of these coins at the time were said to be quickly hired college students, who knew little about actual coin grading. Technically, none of these coins were actually in circulation, but some of them are in better condition than others. So some coins in cases marked "Uncirculated" may actually be in poorer condition than those in cases not marked as "Uncirculated". In the end, it is the buyer who needs to be the judge of the pristineness (or lack therof) of these coins. This coin has a few scratches on the woman's cheek and neck, as well as a few scratches on the right side of the coin. The obverse shows a bit of wear to the eagle's breast, and a few scratches elsewhere.
