Description
Native American / First Nations, Northwestern United States, Alaska, or Canada, Inuit culture, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A soapstone sculptural scene of 2 hunters pulling in a seal, and a dog lying down. The animals and figures are carved from separate pieces and attached via wood pegs into drilled holes on the base, and they can be repositioned. A braided cord is threaded into a drilled hole on the seal and gripped by the hunters as they haul their catch in from the sea. The underside of the base is etched "20836" possibly a disc number or other artist identifier. Size: 8.5" L x 7" W x 3.75" H (21.6 cm x 17.8 cm x 9.5 cm)

Missing the wood pegs on kneeling figure. Loss to dog's paw and chips to ears. A few minor abrasions and scratches to other figures and base. Base underside is signed "20836."
