Native American / First Nations, Canada, Inuit, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A large soapstone carving of a birthing seal, the pup's crying head emerging from between the rear flippers. The underside has an old Canada Eskimo Art label and the stone is signed: "Dania Koma" and numbers "224874." Size: 13.5" L x 5" W x 5" H (34.3 cm x 12.7 cm x 12.7 cm)
