A one-of-a-kind 14-16thC Nagapattinam Standing Indian Bronze Buddha (close to Chola, in both location and time, but this one is Buddhist, the other Hindu. Chola is more famous- both are High points in Indian sculpture). Nagapattinam Bronze Buddhas of any size are pretty rare. Examples over 8 or 10 in are extremely rare. Nagapattinam Buddhas as giant as this Buddha are only found in museums or (very rarely)the best auction houses. Go online and search for this type of Buddha in bronze and see what comes up. I am aware that no other Nagapattinam of this size has sold at Sotheby's or Christie's since they began putting results on their sites. Height is 20." tall (bronze total), 21.5" tall with its custom base, 11" (widest point at the base), and 6" (width at hands). Excellent condition. One nail/fingertip is broken, and the base has a few holes. Outstanding, untouched, even patina covers the entire statue. One expert who examined it felt that it is possible the base was made a bit later than the figure as it is not quite as refined or finished as the actual figure.
