Item Details

Description

An exceptional pair of Neoclassical fireplace chenets in gilt bronze, molded with cherubim atop scrolled acanthus leaf arabesques, reaching towards flaming Atheniennes. C. Late 19th-Early 20th Century; after an 18th Century model designed by Jean-Francois Forty and produced at the foundry of Jean-Noel Turpin. Provenance: From the Greenwich, CT estate of artist Taira Rapoport. Dimensions: H 12.25" x W 12.5" x D 3". Condition: Pair presents beautifully overall. A few small dings and rubs to gilding; light natural patination throughout. Missing one screw at cherub's backside.
