Death of Nelson: a Jones & Son 'British History' series comport, circa 1826-28
The footed dish printed in blue with the 'DEATH OF LORD NELSON', the fatally wounded Admiral supported by comrades on the deck of the Victory, the exterior depicting 'Charles I Ordering the Speak to Give up the Five Members' and King George IV enthroned, the wide borders with military trophies alternating with union wreaths and crowned mitres, 28.5cm wide, printed 'JONES & SON' and title mark in blue
Footnotes:
The 'British History' series was made by Jones and Son during their short period of production between circa 1826 and 1828. See Coysh and Henrywood, The Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery 1780-1880 (1982), p.58.

Condition

In good condition. There is some misfiring and kiln sand adhering to the rim, exterior and foot of the comport including some minor loss of glaze associated with this misfiring to the foot.
