Description
A rare antique Judaica spice tower or Besamim box made in America in the early 20th century, crafted in sterling silver with intricate swirling openwork designs on the body with dangling bells below. The tapered stem base and the flag on top of the spire add to the towers regal appearance. Provenance: from the Isaac Pollak estate. This rare item belonged to the now extinct Harlem Orthodox Keila synagogue. The spice tower serves a unique purpose in Jewish tradition, as it is used during the Havdalah ceremony, which marks the end of the Sabbath and the beginning of the new week. Its elegant design, with swirling floral motifs, reflects the craftsmanship and attention to detail that are often associated with Judaica art. Vintage Silver Spice Towers And Judaica Collectibles.
