A fine, clear example of George Armstrong Custer's (1839-1876) handwriting on an envelope to his wife. From the collection of Elizabeth "Libbie" Bacon Custer, who reportedly kept envelopes, checks, and other notes written by her husband in order to give them to admirers who asked for a souvenir. The letter was written to Libbie after Custer concluded his frontier duty in Kansas and Indian Territory (now Oklahoma), from 7 October 1868 to October 1869.
