Civil War CDVs of Brothers George and Adam Baker of Co. C, 71st Ohio Volunteer Infantry. These images were found together at an estate sale in Central Ohio. Both images are published in Martin Stewart's book, Redemption The 71st Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War.The image of George Baker is identified in nk on the reverse, "George A Baker from Columbus 71 Ohio". Two very unusual salmon colored 1 cent revenue stamps are affixed to the back of this image. The CDV of Adam Baker is not identified but it bears the identical type of revenue stamps as found on the image of his brother George and they are affixed to the back in the identical way. George Baker enlisted 10/14/1864 age 41 as a substitute and Private in Co. C of the 71 st OVI. He mustered out with the regiment at San Antonio, Texas 10/10/1865. Adam W. Baker age 30 was drafted 9/21/1864 into Co. C 71st OVI. He was captured Nov. 28, 1864 at Columbia, Tennessee and held at Andersonville Prison until paroled.
