Plate measures 12" x 16" and has been cleaned / lightly scuffed and was then clear coated. According to our consignor this plate came from Milwaukee Road #2400 / 982 which was the first GP9 built by EMD. The locomotive was eventually scrapped by National Railway Equipment in 1982. While there are no direct markings on the plate to support this claim, there are a few tidbits of paperwork and evidence. The most telling is the touches of yellow paint that surround the outer edge of the plate which with match the Milwaukee Road yellow. The second piece of evidence is a business card and paper from NRE in Illinois. Some additional paint residue ane wear on the reverse. See photos for best description.
